Colour education for the textile dyeing industry

Recent research has shown that a significant proportion of the textile and dyeing industry workforce have stayed on beyond their planned retirement age because of a lack of suitably qualified younger replacements. With a skills gap amongst many young people entering the industry, the Foundation Textile Coloration Certificate (FTCC) and Textile Coloration Certificate (TCC) were developed to meet the needs of industry and to help fill this gap. SDC’s innovative colour education pathway has courses suitable for those from both technical and design backgrounds.

Foundation Textile Coloration Certificate (FTCC)

This one-year entry level course gives an introduction to textile coloration. It is designed to meet the needs of the dyeing and textile industry by providing the basic chemistry behind the application of colour. Learners from diverse educational levels can develop both their scientific knowledge and their learning skills.

The course covers:
  • An introduction to the chemistry involved in textile coloration
  • Online lectures allowing learners to interact with the tutor and fellow learners
  • Day residential sessions to develop practical skills and support learning

It also provides the ideal foundation for students who would like to move on to our TCC qualification. We are recruiting students now for a March 2019 start.  For further information about the FTCC take a look at this short video.

Textile Coloration Certificate (TCC)

This two-year advanced learning course covers the fundamental textile coloration principles and processes. You can hear all about the experience of one of our TCC students, Seth Clay from Wooltex, in this short video, and check out this video for a wider overview of the TCC.

The course covers:
  • Advanced learning in textile coloration principles and processes
  • Online lectures allowing learners to interact with the tutor and fellow learners
  • Day residential sessions to develop practical skills and support learning
  • The foundation required to move on to our professional ASDC qualification

We are recruiting students now for a March 2019 start – please ask for details.
