Water: no longer a cheap resource!

If there is anything in this world that has no alternative, it is water. A good thought becomes reality only when implemented. With this in mind, SDC EC organised a half-day seminar titled “Water: No more a Cheap Resource” in December 2015 in Mumbai for the benefit of the textile processing industry.

Generous sponsorships help to educate future generations in the art of colour and the craft of textiles

When SDC published the first in the series of Malcolm the Weaver educational books in 2014, we hoped that the textile industry would help us realise our goal of distributing free copies of the books to primary school libraries. After publishing our second book in 2015, we are now seeing how truly generous and supportive the industry is through their increased sponsorships of the books and that aim being realised. To date, more than 2,000 copies have been sponsored and we hope to push the project further and get at least one book into every primary school library in the UK.

The Textile Colourant and Chemical Leaders Forum, ITMA 2015

SDC member Dr Ian Holme reports on The Textile Colourant and Chemical Leaders Forum, which took place at ITMA 2015.

The Textile Colourant and Chemical Leaders Forum organised by the technical committee comprising members from SDC (Andrew Filarowski), IFATCC (J Marek), AICTC (A Gigli), Janak Mehta (DMAI) and Enrique Meltzer (FLAQT) and organised with MP International and held during ITMA 2015 at Fiera Rho, Milan saw 130 delegates attending.

In order to increase sustainability in textiles and clothing, all stakeholders need to work together, delegates at the Textile Colourant and Chemical Leaders Forum heard.
